Claire Spratt began writing stage plays in 2009. Plays Claire has written include; ‘A Little in Tents’; ‘Blitz Bride’, (nominated for Best Production at the Buxton Festival Fringe and later adapted in to a stage musical),
‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ (received a 4 star review), ‘Mrs York’s Shelter’ (selling out 5 venues), ‘Just Like Anthea’,
‘Star Makers’, (adapted from an earlier play ‘Standby On Stage Please!’) and ‘One Sunny Day’.
Short plays are; ‘Nightwatch’, (finalist in the Daffodil Theatre Awards), ‘Fancy Pants’, ‘Foot Day’, ‘The Joy of Painting’ and ‘Tea Towels and Tiaras’. Also, ‘Star Gazing’, a short play adapted from ‘Star Makers’. Further 'play-films' written by Claire are; ‘Let Sleeping Bags Lie’, (the sequel to ‘A Little in Tents’) and ‘Rhubarb Rhubarb’. It is hoped 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' and 'Mrs York's Shelter' will be filmed soon. It is intended that some of her plays, including 'The Night Before Christmas', are recorded as radio plays for CD release.
Claire founded Planet Rabbit Productions, a Yorkshire based theatre company, in 2008 which has staged 27 productions and events. The company toured plays throughout the north of England until December 2016, performing to over 60 towns. Xanadu Films was formed as a sister company to Planet Rabbit in order to distribute the plays beyond Planet Rabbit's touring circuit.
Prior to starting Planet Rabbit Claire was a stage manager for 17 years. After training at RADA she went on to work extensively in stage management and theatre production throughout the UK, clocking up over 70 productions. From opera and rep to panto and summer seasons, Claire has worked for countless producers and companies including Hull Truck, the Royal Opera, on 17 top pantos at leading theatres around the UK, the No.1 Abba Mania tour which toured for several years to some of the largest theatres & concert halls, leading to a 4 month West End run, as well as the Funny Guys UK tours with Cannon & Ball.
